RECOMMENDED MOTION:
The board may make the following motion:
Move the board appoint ______________ to fill the unexpired term for the vacant Director - District 10 position on the EAA Board of Directors.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to interview, select and appoint a candidate to fill the unexpired term for Director - District 10 on the EAA Board of Directors. District 10 Director Pat Stroka submitted a letter of intent to resign to Chairman Luana Buckner on December 1, 2020, and has subsequently submitted his resignation effective February 3. At the December 8, 2020 meeting, the board directed staff to initiate the necessary procedures for filling the expected vacancy as described in Section 2.04 of the EAA Bylaws.
As of the posting of the February 9 board meeting, the EAA has received one application for appointment to the vacant District 10 seat. Attached to this item is the application submitted by Mr. Austin Bodin. At the February 9 meeting, Mr. Bodin will be asked to introduce himself and provide a brief statement regarding his candidacy, after which the board may interview the candidate and vote on their potential appointment to the board.
Since the deadline for applicants to apply for appointment to the vacant District 10 seat is Monday, February 8, it is possible that the EAA will receive other applications after the posting of the February 9 meeting. If additional applications are received, this agenda item may be tabled to a future meeting. In approving the draft board agenda, the Executive Committee voted to include this item on the February 9 agenda to avoid unnecessary delay in the event Mr. Bodin ended up being the only applicant for the vacant seat.
