RECOMMENDED MOTION:

 

Move the board direct the General Manager to initiate the necessary procedures for filling the vacancy of Edwards Aquifer Authority Director District 5 in Bexar County.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The purpose of this agenda item is to seek board action to direct the General Manager to initiate the necessary procedures for filling the vacancy of Edwards Aquifer Authority Director District 5 in Bexar County. Following are excerpts from that section which most directly apply to this particular circumstance:

 

(a)                     Except for appointed directors, the filling of vacancies is within the jurisdiction of the Board. If an elected director’s position becomes vacant, the Board shall appoint a qualified person to serve until the first election of directors following the appointment. If the position is not scheduled to be filled in that election, the Board shall additionally provide for a director to be elected at that election for the remainder of the unexpired term.

 

If so directed, staff will proceed to implement the appropriate actions to fill this potential vacancy as described in Section 2.04 of the EAA Bylaws.
