STAFF RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move the board approve a conceptual framework as presented for the development of the conservation initiative: “Edwards Aquifer Authority/Edwards Aquifer Conservancy: The Next Generation” and authorize the General Manager to take all steps necessary to effectuate the development of the appropriate program and policy recommendations.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to receive a report from the General Manager on the concept of an initiative identified as “Edwards Aquifer Authority/Edwards Aquifer Conservancy: The Next Generation” by which the EAA and EAC would undertake a leadership role of managing and operating a mission-wide conservation program for the purpose of aquifer protection and enhancement. The General Manager has communicated this concept with directors individually and will answer any questions the board may have. If appropriate, the board may vote to direct staff to move forward with this concept, which would be incorporated into the 2021-30 Strategic Plan.
STRATEGIC PLAN REFERENCE:
This agenda item centers around the direction of the next EAA strategic plan, currently under development by staff for future board consideration.
