SUMMARY:
The purpose of this technical briefing is for the board to receive a report from EAA staff on the various automated meter reading (AMR) programs developed to facilitate groundwater use reporting and meter data collection. As related to this discussion, ‘automated’ refer to those meter readings obtained by the EAA in an electronic or digital format, as compared to the annual groundwater use reporting forms mailed out to regulated well owners by EAA staff each December.
This discussion will review EAA staff’s development of the Volunteer Automated Meter Reading (VAMR) program for irrigation users, the EAA Meter Matters Smartphone App, on-line groundwater use reporting through the EAA website, and other possibilities related to electronic reporting of meter data.
Finally, the information presented in this technical briefing will facilitate further discussion during the EAA Summer Board Work Session regarding the possible expansion and further development of VAMR and other related AMR programs.
