RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move the board amend the 2018 Operating Budget by increasing Capital/Computer Hardware Expenses by $38,500, and decreasing other line items accordingly.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider a Finance/Administrative Committee recommendation to amend the 2018 operating budget by increasing the line item for Capital/Computer Hardware by $38,500, and decreasing other line items accordingly. This transfer of funds from other line items to the Capital/Computer Hardware line item is needed to effectuate the purchase and installation of additional security upgrades and access controls to the EAA’s technology network.
Article VIII, Fiscal Policy of the EAA Bylaws, requires that any administrative transfer of funds within the operating budget must be within the General Manager’s signature authority. Previously this year, staff transferred funds administratively to fund Computer Hardware purchases. As the total sum of transfers into this Capital/Computer Hardware line item will now exceed $50,000, for the fiscal year, thus exceeding the General Manager’s signature authority, staff is seeking board approval to transfer these additional funds.
Attached to this item is a fund summary that reflects the impact of this budget amendment.
At the July 24 meeting, the Finance/Administrative Committee voted to recommend the board amend the 2018 Operating Budget by increasing Capital/Computer Hardware Expenses by $38,500, and decreasing other line items accordingly.
