RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move the board nominate General Manager Roland Ruiz as a Water Districts representative on the South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region L).
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider an Executive Committee recommendation to nominate Mr. Roland Ruiz, General Manager, as a Water Districts representative on the South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region L). At the April 26, 2018, meeting, the Region L group declared 12 current members’ terms will expire in August 2018, and invited nominations for representatives to serve those 5-year terms, as well as two additional vacant positions, expiring in 2023. Nominations are due by June 15, 2018. Attached to this summary is a copy of the schedule of terms for all Region L planning group members.
Region L bylaws require that all potential nominees for membership receive their nomination from either the chief executive officer or the governing board of the entity that qualifies to have a representative fill a vacant position.
The 2018 schedule for filling unexpired terms is as follows:
Wednesday, May 9 Vacancy notices published in San Antonio Express News Victoria Advocate
Friday, June 15 Deadline for nominations
Wed-Thurs, July 18-19 Region L Executive Committee interviews nominees and makes recommendation
Thursday, August 2 Region L to consider Executive Committee’s recommendations and appointment of voting members
At the June 4 meeting, the Executive Committee voted to recommend the board nominate General Manager Roland Ruiz as a Water Districts representative on the South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region L).
