Title

Consider recommendation from EAA staff to extend authorization of a waiver of registration fees.

Body

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Move the board adopt Resolution and Order No. 01-18-894 of the Edwards Aquifer Authority Board of Directors authorizing a waiver of registration fees for all registrations submitted prior to December 31, 2018.

SUMMARY:

The EAA is continuing its outreach efforts to encourage the registration of aboveground and underground storage tanks and facilities storing regulated materials in both urban and rural areas on the Recharge and Contributing Zone of the Edwards Aquifer.  During 2017, the board approved a waiver of registration fees to help incentivize registration of such tanks and facilities.  In addition, staff believed that such a wavier would also be an incentive to self-report abandoned wells and would benefit the EAA's well canvassing efforts.  EAA staff believes the 2017 waiver was beneficial and would like to extend the waiver of registration fees through December  31, 2018.

A resolution and order, which has been reviewed by legal counsel, is attached to this summary.
