STAFF RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move the board adopt Resolution and Order No. 11-17-890 of the Edwards Aquifer Authority Board of Directors approving the purchase and installation of computer network equipment from SHI, in the amount of $102,477.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider an EAA staff recommendation to approve the purchase and installation of computer network equipment from SHI, in the amount of $102,477. The purchase of this equipment will enhance and facilitate network security, data backups and redundancy that are required to maintain the integrity and safekeeping of EAA electronic databases. This equipment consists of additional network servers that are designed to enable backup storage and recovery from a cloud environment, additional switches, cabling, and upgraded licenses. Attached to this item is a listing of the equipment that would be purchased. A draft resolution and order, which has been reviewed by legal counsel is also attached.
These items will be purchased through the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) vendor list. The DIR negotiates agreements with vendors for technology services and equipment at preferred pricing. Government entities within Texas can purchase goods and services from these agreements and take advantage of these pre-negotiated prices and services, without conducting a formal procurement process.
