Body

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

This item is for discussion purposes only.  No action is required.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to receive a final report on the completion of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) Meter Implementation Projects.  Since 2008, the EAA and SAWS have engaged in two agreements to ensure SAWS compliance with the EAA’s well metering rules. The original agreement addressed SAWS original 85 wells and was completed in 2011. With the incorporation of the dissolved Bexar Metropolitan Water District (Bexar Met), SAWS entered into another similar agreement to ensure the newly acquired wells were also appropriately metered. In August 2017, SAWS completed this more recent project. SAWS recently completed all phases of the DSP agreement and all 125 SAWS wells are now appropriately metered.

The EAA retained the services of Arcadis U.S., Inc. (“Arcadis”), to provide the engineering and consulting services necessary to help ensure all SAWS meters were installed appropriately. At the September 12 board meeting, EAA staff and Mr. Blumberg from Arcadis will present a final report summarizing the achievements of both meter implementation agreements. Attached to this agenda item is the SAWS Meter Implementation Projects Final Summary Memorandum, prepared by Arcadis.

M/WBE PARTICIPATION:

The EAA retained the services of ARCADIS-US as a technical consultant for review of design specification and installation as performed under the previous meter agreement with SAWS.  ARCADIS-US is not an M/WBE.
