STAFF RECOMMENDED MOTION:

None.  This item is for informational purposes only.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is for the R&T Committee to receive an update on the EAHCP Ecological Model.  The goal of the EcoModel is to test the effectiveness of Spring Flow Protection Measures in protecting the covered species. To achieve this goal, a model was needed to help predict ecological responses to changes in flow, submerged aquatic vegetation assemblages, and water quality. The focus of the EcoModel is predicting population changes to the fountain darter.  Specifically, the EcoModel will be used during the strategic adaptive management process to simulate fountain darter responses to a drought of record coupled with the conservation measures put in place during Phase I of the HCP.

STRATEGIC PLAN REFERENCE:

This agenda item supports the EAA's policy direction as set forth in the EAA 2016-20 Strategic Plan:  Goal A. Sustain Federally Protected Aquifer-Dependent Species.
