SUMMARY:

 

The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to receive a presentation from EAA staff regarding the 2016 Annual Report submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), which is due on March 31 of each year.

 

The Annual Report is a specific requirement of the Incidental Take Permit (ITP) issued by the USFWS. It provides the method by which the EAA and the other Permittees can demonstrate compliance with the ITP and the goals and objectives of the HCP.

 

The Annual Report documents HCP implementation activities, such as the habitat conservation activities conducted in the Comal and San Marcos ecosystems and the springflow protection activities and supporting science programs conducted by the EAA. The document also details adaptive management activities, the annual take estimate and recommendations for the upcoming year.

This agenda item supports the EAA's policy direction as set forth in the EAA 2016-20 Strategic Plan:  Goal A. Sustain Federally Protected Aquifer-Dependent Species.
