Body

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Move the board direct staff to continue its efforts to commission an availability study of the minority-owned and woman-owned business enterprises within the EAA’s jurisdiction able to conduct business in the areas in which the EAA seeks services.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider a Finance/Administrative Committee recommendation to direct staff to conduct a study of the availability of minority-owned and woman-owned businesses (M/WBE) within the EAA’s jurisdiction that conduct business in the areas in which the EAA typically seeks services.  At the February 28 meeting, the Finance/Administrative Committee received a report from staff on the process necessary to establish a legal predicate for the basis of adopting a race-conscious policy in all or parts of the EAA’s procurement activities.

Following this presentation, the committee voted to recommend the board direct staff to continue its current efforts to commission an availability study of M/WBE within the EAA’s jurisdiction able to conduct business in the areas in which the EAA seeks services. The findings of this study will be brought back to the Finance/Administrative Committee at a future meeting this year.
