Title

Consider recommendation from the Executive Committee for a potential subject for the EAA's 2017 Water Conservation Grant Program.

Body

RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Move the board authorize EAA staff to use 2017 budgeted water conservation grant funds for projects related to the installation of irrigation water conservation equipment.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider an Executive Committee recommendation to focus 2017 water conservation grant activities on projects related to the installation of irrigation water conservation equipment.  In 2016, grant funds were also focused on the installation of irrigation water conservation equipment and the program had great success.  Staff has identified a remaining need and demand for such a program and would like to focus 2017 grant-related efforts on eliminating flood irrigation by EAA permit holders within the EAA's jurisidctional boundaries.  Staff is seeking early authorization for such a focus to the program for 2017 so that solicitation and contract language can be prepared and so that marketing materials for the program can be created and effectively distributed.

At the meeting on December 5, the Executive Committee voted to recommend the board authorize EAA staff to use 2017 budgeted water conservation grant funds for projects related to the installation of irrigation water conservation equipment.
