RECOMMENDED MOTION:

None.  This item is for informational purposes only.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this item is for the board to receive a report from EAA staff on its role in the evaluation of properties that have the potential to be included in the City of San Antonio’s Edwards Aquifer Protection Program (EAPP).  Prior to any recommendation to include a property in the EAPP, each property is evaluated by EAA staff to better understand its contribution to Edwards Aquifer water quantity and water quality.  Each property is assessed by performing a site visit to identify its geologic and hydrogeologic characteristics.  Following the site visit, staff prepares a geologic assessment report that describes the property’s relative water quality and water quantity benefit to the aquifer.  This briefing will provide an overview of this assessment process and discuss the benefits to the EAA’s science mission that result from partnering in the EAPP process.  Geary Schindel, Director of Aquifer Science/Chief Technical Officer, who leads a team of EAA staff who perform these geologic assessments will present this report.
