RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move the board amend the 2024 EAA Operating Budget by increasing the Next Generation Fund appropriation for Professional Technical Services by $45,471.
SUMMARY:
The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider a Finance/Administrative Committee recommendation to amend the 2024 EAA Operating budget by increasing the appropriation for the Next Generation Fund by a total of $45,471. At the time of the 2024 budget adoption, there were no specific studies identified to use funds provided by the San Antonio River Authority for use in various "Next Generation" activities at the EAA Field Research Park. Currently, EAA staff is proposing to use these funds for two phases of study at the Field Research Park. The two phases of the work are: 1) Evaluating managed lands and developed lands in terms of runoff characteristics and how various management practices might impact runoff; and 2) Constructing a basic surface water model capable of providing further evaluation of nature-based solutions (such as berms and swales) on surface water runoff. This funding request represents the remaining balance of funds provided by San Antonio River Authority.
The attached spreadsheet summarizes the proposed amendment discussed above.
At the meeting on June 25, the Finance/Administrative Committee voted to approve the recommended motion above.
