Body

STAFF RECOMMENDED MOTION:

Move the board approve a contract amendment for Contract No. 24-013-AMS between the EAA and the U.S. Geological Survey for mapping and cross-section development services in the amount not to exceed $80,000, upon signature by both parties through December 31, 2027.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is for the board to consider a Research & Technology Committee recommendation to amend Contract No. 24-013-AMS between the EAA and U.S. Geological Survey for mapping and cross-section development services. The amendment amount exceeds the General Manager's signature authority, as established in Section 5.01(b) of the EAA ByLaws, and requires board approval.

This amendment increases the total funding for the ongoing joint study with the U.S. Geological Survey by $100,000 (EAA share: $80,000; USGS share: $20,000), bringing the total agreement to $575,000. The additional funding will support expanded technical work, specifically detailed mapping and geologic cross-section development along the Haby Crossing Fault near Medina Lake. This work will improve understanding of aquifer vulnerability in the Edwards and Trinity outcrop areas, strengthening the scientific basis for groundwater protection and management decisions.
